Painting is a serious effort to deal creatively with deep inexpressible emotions I feel when confronted with the wonder and irony of living in this world. Nature and the man's place in nature is at the center of much of my art. I try to use the visible world to allude to the invisible.
The paintings either watercolor or oil, large or small, are an artifact, a souvenir, of the place, the time and the process. I use color for light and space while working for solid compositions. The results vary in the degree of representation and abstraction.

I am primarily a landscape painter, working directly from nature
in a thick, vigorous impasto with a strong emphasis on color.
Color expresses excitement and emotion as well as establishing
and defining space and form.
An
expressionist at heart, I believe that color and form may be freely
interpreted and exaggerated, but it is important to me to paint
from nature. |

I love the art of portrait painting, in which I paint portraits
by commission, but I also enjoy painting animals (wildlife) and
seascapes as well. I use my palette of oil colors and brushes
to form my subjects rather than using a drawing or a linear technique. |

My
painting style is based on techniques used by modern classical
realists. However, my subjects are taken from the present-day,
not the Neoclassical Period. I am interested in creating naturalistic
images from everyday life with themes ranging from the landscape
to the still-life to the figurative including portraiture. I work
in oil, watercolor, egg tempera, and acrylic. |

David
Felder has captured the essential elements of the landscapes he
paints and rendered them with skill. His use of color has grown
stronger and at the same time more sophisticated and subtle. While
many of his landscapes are scenes from travels, more often they
celebrate the countryside near his home in North Florida. |

water, land, earth and sky. |

Painting is
an intellectual and a sensual pleasure to me. It reflects my life

sanctuaries and sources of inspiration, offering comfort and sometimes
magic -- and they are a joy to paint. |
