and inspiration in the everyday. Her work has been exhibited in
public and corporate offices throughout the southeast. She recently
discovered a method of combining photography with painting which

I create images from textures and patterns seen in the natural world, and infuse them with a sense of mystery and spirituality. Photographs provide me with the “raw material” and a “jumping off place”. My art is an intuitive process, when unfolding, is as intoxicating as anything I know.

I am an ultra-light long distance hiker and an artist whose work
intersects with environmental issues. My favorite museum to exhibit
my work is currently my own yard, where I have fabricated pole-like
structures with objects that are evidence of my consumption and
collection habits. One example is the use of my junk mail (mostly
mail order catalogues) to remake trees. I also make large photographs
and digital images that interest with the themes of the sculptures
in the yard. |

Current work involves encaustic and TtV. The encaustic process is coating photos with beeswax, scraping until it’s smooth, firing with a gas torch to meld the layers of wax. TtV stands for “through the viewfinder,” photos shot with a digital camera through the viewfinder of a twin lens reflex camera. |

I love photography and am passionate about the abstract macro genre above all. I delight in finding wild colors, shapes, and compositions in the decayed, derelict, and discarded things. There is great beauty in the overlooked or ordinary, in the cracked or rusted, in the abandoned or condemned.
