Anhinga Press has published full-length volumes of fine literature, principally poetry for the past thirty years. Also sponsors Wednesday night literary readings series at 621 Gallery. Readings feature the best of poetry and prose written by Anhinga Press and Apalachee Review authors, as well as special invited guests.

Publishes the Apalachee Review, a literary magazine produced in Tallahassee since 1973, with an international distribution and subscription list. Part of the mission has always included featuring Florida writers, and as part of Tallahasssee’s writing community the press also continues to publish local authors.

Sponsors a weekly poetry jam, Black on Black Rhyme Poetry Night, every Thursday night from 9-11 pm, featuring an open mic plus live music. Readings held at the Aahket Center, 812 S. Macomb Street.

Member-driven website dedicated to helping writers of short fiction perfect and promote their craft. An oasis for creative writers struggling across the long desert of rejection slips and lost manuscripts that face every writer seeking publication. Anyone can join for free and submit their work. New stories are posted on the first of each month, reviewed by other members, and floated on these reviews into the website’s Top Stories of the Month spotlight.

Also sponsors periodic “FCTuesdays, ” readings at The Warehouse of innovative, challenging, and sophisticated writing followed by book signings.

FLAC is Florida's voice for independent literary magazines, publishers, & writers. Founded in 2004 by Anhinga Press, Fiction Collective 2, and the University of Tampa Press, and based in Tallahassee, the Florida Literary Arts Coalition works to advance new writing and independent publishing throughout the state and region.

Offers monthly art exhibits on the walls and in glass exhibition cases, featuring artwork, collectibles, and rare books. Emphasis is on local artists. Library also offers author series Booked for Lunch on the third Thursday of the month, where local authors talk about and read from their books in a casual setting.

For published and non-published authors and artists serious about their work in children’s literature. Sponsors a monthly “Cuppa Critique” at 7-8:30 pm on the second Tuesday of the month at the Leon County Public Library, downtown location. Where there's a word, there's a way! The TCPS is a brand new group whose goals are to form an open local workshop environment, host scheduled readings, and work together to create an eventual publication. We will meet bi-weekly to listen to guest speakers, actively edit, and of course, enjoy sharing many styles of contemporary poetry.

A dynamic organization of both published and aspiring writers of all ages in all genres. Meetings are held monthly on the fourth Thursday at 6:30 pm at the Tallahassee Senior Center. Meetings feature speakers, panels, workshops, and discussions about all facets of the craft and business of writing. TWA also sponsors the Seven Hills Writing Conference each spring, a celebration of Big Bend authors during the holidays, and mini-workshops throughout the year. TWA also sponsors nationally recognized contests for writers: The Seven Hills Contest (fiction, non-fiction, memoirs), Penumbra (poetry, haiku), and Project Stagelight (stage plays).

Presents a repertory encompassing a variety of movement styles, such as African derived and contemporary dance, tap, jazz, and ballet. These are showcased through an annual concert and in mini-presentations for university, civic and social activities throughout the academic year. A major component of concert offerings is to present elements of the black experience through the medium of dance. This is accomplished through an examination of specific elements of black culture, music, and movement style.

Every Saturday from March through November, Ponce de Leon Park comes alive. Celebrated local musicians play their music on stage, authors and poets present readings, and regional artists show their arts and fine crafts, while local farmers offer Mother Nature's best. Special events bring hands-on art activities for children or sneak previews of upcoming cultural events.

The Florida Center for Performing Arts and Education, Inc., is a group dedicated to building a performing arts center for arts and education. We welcome volunteers to participate in this endeavor.

This arts program instructs developmentally disabled adults in performing and visual arts. The art gallery has artwork from local artists as well as art created by the students who attend Pyramid Studios. Theatre productions are held at Tallahassee Community College.

A festival of the fine and performing arts featuring nationally and internationally recognized artists and performers, as well as campus and community arts events. Presents music, dance, theatre, creative writing, film, and exhibitions of fine art in various Tallahassee venues. Each year the festival features an opening art exhibition and a series of ticketed marquee performances. Series tickets go on sale each November; individual tickets available in January.

Serving the South Georgia/North Florida region, TEF’s annual concert series at the Thomasville Cultural Center features internationally celebrated artists and ensembles in the fields of opera, theatre, dance, classical music, jazz, and other forms of entertainment.
